Pre-Conference Workshop #2: Leadership by Design: The Keys to Communication and Teamwork

Leadership by Design will focus on key elements of team and leadership development that each of us can actively shape in our daily leadership management roles within our park and recreation agencies. Topics will include building trust, embracing diverse perspectives and values, and enhancing communication through effective listening and powerful questioning. This highly interactive pre-conference workshop will unite association members, providing them with practical strategies to amplify their impact within their teams and communities. Dissect the components of active listening by participating in two active listening strategies.

1. Examine their professional values and then evaluate how these values impact their leadership and interactions with others.
2. Demonstrate their ability to use developmental vs. directive questions or “powerful questions” in their interactions with others.
