LOM Session: Risk Management for Parks and Recreation

Description of Program:

Risks, Liability, Injuries, oh my! This session will focus on debunking common misconceptions concerning liability for claims arising in municipal recreation programs; identifying major areas of concern and providing specific guidelines for reducing the potential for injuries and minimizing the impact of those losses that do occur. We will discuss sport and physical activity programs as well as specific settings specific such as playgrounds and athletic fields.

1. Identify the factors that may or may not perpetuate litigation or legal actions.

2. Recognize, assess and employ appropriate professional standards in the development and implementation of programs of sport and physical activity.
