This is a newly created position that will require innovative programming ideas with the ability to execute successful comprehensive programs for kids, adults and seniors. The Program Coordinator will be tasked to plan, coordinate, implement, promote and oversee activities of selected recreational programs and special events. Knowledge of the methods used to plan, organize and coordinate parks and recreation programs. Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Minimum (3) years of professional recreation or community service experience. Hourly rate $20-$28. Ability to work in high-pressure environments; have excellent problem-solving skills. RECREATION LEADER - OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
MONMOUTH COUNTY PARK SYSTEM
Responsible for planning, organizing, promoting, leading, and supervising outdoor adventures programs, odyssey camps, and events for all ages and abilities for the citizens of Monmouth County. This position requires the individual to obtain specialized certifications where required, including but not limited to: CPR, First Aid/AED, high & low challenge course, zipline, archery, portable climbing wall, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, camping, and cross-country skiing, and lifeguard. The individual must be able to lift program gear and equipment up to approximately 50 lbs., including canoes and kayaks. The individual must demonstrate firm computer skills and experience with Microsoft office, goggle drive, zoom, and webex. Must be able to work flexible hours and available to work some evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays.
A bachelor’s degree from a college or university in the field of recreation, sports management, or a closely related field is desired, or an equivalent educational experience preferred. Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and will be required to obtain a Class C commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement within 3 months of employment. Must satisfy employer paid physical, fingerprint and driver’s license background check. Monmouth County NJ residency preferred.

GARDENER
BURLINGTON COUNTY
This position is responsible for basic park horticulture duties including landscaping, groundskeeping and event set-up/breakdown.
Under supervision, performs routine work in basic plant care and maintenance of display beds, formal gardens, native gardens, hedges, trees and lawns in a public park setting. Basic skills and experience in landscape design, planting, mulching, watering, weeding, dividing, pruning, ability to recognize plant issues. Familiarity with common, native and invasive annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees and best practices care. Additional responsibilities include tree work, fall/spring clean-ups, storm and winter weather response; event set-up and breakdown; operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery used to care for and maintain grounds; trash management and other related maintenance duties as required.
Work hours: M-F 7am - 3:30 pm plus mandatory and voluntary overtime; this is an essential personnel position,
REQUIREMENTS:
AGE: Minimum of 18 years of age
LICENSE: Appointees must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
EDUCATION: Graduation from high school, vocational high school, or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate.
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in the planting and maintenance of lawns, beds, annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees in a public setting.
PREFERRED: Related course work, certification or degrees in horticulture or similar subject. NJ Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Category 3A – Ornamental.

LIFEGUARD
BOROUGH OF BOUND BROOK
Reports To: Park Director & Pool Manager
Job Overview: The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all pool patrons by preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and enforcing pool rules and regulations. This role requires maintaining a high level of professionalism, attentiveness, and adherence to safety procedures at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Safety & Supervision:
o Monitor all pool activities to ensure patron safety.
o Maintain familiarity with the Emergency Action Plan.
o Respond swiftly and appropriately to all emergency situations in and around the pool.
2. Emergency Response & First Aid:
o Administer first aid, CPR, and water rescues as needed.
o Properly document and report all incidents to the Pool Manager and Park Director.
3. Compliance & Enforcement:
o Enforce all pool policies, procedures, and regulations set forth by the Recreation Commission.
o Maintain all required certifications in compliance with federal and state requirements.
4. Pool & Facility Maintenance:
o Keep the pool area clean and orderly, including removing debris and maintaining the pool deck and scum line.
o Assist with general pool maintenance tasks.
5. Staff Meetings & Training:
o Attend all scheduled staff meetings and safety drills unless pre-approved by the Pool Manager and Recreation Director.
o Participate in training exercises to maintain lifeguarding skills.
6. Professionalism & Conduct:
o Represent the organization professionally at all times.
o Refrain from using cell phones while on duty, as per regulations.
o Follow dress code requirements, including wearing approved lifeguard swim attire.
7. Patron Interaction & Assistance:
o Provide assistance during adult swim sessions as instructed by the Pool Manager.
o Help facilitate and support programs held at the park.
8. Disciplinary Measures:
o Handle minor rule violations by issuing warnings (benching).
o Refer serious disciplinary actions to the Pool Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Must hold and maintain current lifeguard, CPR, and first aid certifications.
• Strong swimming skills and ability to perform water rescues.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
• Outdoor pool setting with exposure to sun and water for extended periods.
• Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

DIRECTOR OF RECREATION
TOWN OF WESTFIELD, UNION COUNTY
The Town of Westfield is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the full-time position of Director of Recreation. This leadership role is responsible for the development, coordination, and promotion of a wide range of recreational programs, special events, and the Town’s aquatic facility. The Director plays a key role in fostering collaborative relationships with other municipal departments and community organizations to successfully plan and implement joint projects and initiatives. Core responsibilities include oversight of departmental operations, budget and fiscal management, capital improvement planning and oversight and proactive daily project management. The Director is also responsible for the supervision of all full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, and volunteer staff. Candidates should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills are essential. Under supervision, performs routine work in the care and maintenance of outdoor areas such as park grounds, recreational areas, lawns, playgrounds, and plant beds as well as park buildings and facilities; maintains and repairs park infrastructure such as benches and fences; participates in event set-up and breakdown; operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery used to care for and maintain grounds; performs custodial duties, power washing, trash management and other related duties as required.
Work hours: M-F 7am - 3:30 pm, 40 hours/week, up to 6-month position
