The Westfield Recreation Department's Summer Playground Program is currently looking for college grad with an Education or Recreation Degree to be a Site Supervisor!  Site Supervisors must assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of participants within activities and throughout the program, assure they are properly supervised. They should be knowledgeable of, and implement, all safety guidelines and nurture each participant's development of social skills and self-esteem, recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group, maintain attendance / incident reports, report issues or concerns by participants to Playground Directors, and strive to resolve conflicts in a healthy and respectful way.

Summer Playground is a 6-week program located in Westfield NJ, from June 30th to August 8th (Off on July 4th). Work Hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM *Varies*

    MAINTENANCE WORKER 1 GROUNDS

    This position is responsible for basic park maintenance duties including landscaping, groundskeeping and event set-up/breakdown. 

    Under supervision, performs routine work in the care and maintenance of outdoor areas such as park grounds, recreational areas, lawns, playgrounds, and plant beds including tree work, fall clean-ups, and snow/ice response; maintains and repairs park infrastructure such as benches and fences; participates in event set-up and breakdown; operates and performs minor maintenance on a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery used to care for and maintain grounds; performs trash management and other related maintenance duties as required.

    Work hours: M-F 7am - 3:30 pm plus overtime; this is an essential personnel position.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION: Graduation from high school, vocational high school, or possession of an approved high school equivalency certificate.

    FULL-TIME RECREATION DIRECTOR

    The Borough of Rumson is seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Recreation Director to oversee the operation and management of its diverse recreation programs. This role involves coordinating both sports and non-sports activities, serving over 3,500 participants across 30 programs.

    Key Responsibilities:
    •    Oversee all aspects of the Borough’s recreation programs, including planning, management, and execution.

    POOL MANAGER

    We are seeking certified Lifeguards to work 20-30 hours per week. Incentives are given for working weekends and shift coverage. Must have the ability to recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP), utilizing lifeguard surveillance and rescue techniques which may include quick movements, strenuous activity, and on occasion assist or lift persons in distress of varying weights. Ability to remain alert to dangerous situations while sitting, standing or walking for various lengths of time.     The Township of Morris is seeking a Parks & Recreation Administrative Supervisor to oversee daily operations, facility permitting, the Clean Communities program, human resources, special events, and general recreation programming. This position also manages seasonal swim pool operations and employee work assignments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Sports/Leisure Administration, or related field preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum 3 years in related duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Skills: Knowledge of swim pool management, government purchasing, financial processes and state & federal regulations governing facility and pool operations.
    • Certifications:
      • Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
      • Must be a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or obtain within 60 days of employment.
      • Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification required or must be obtained within 60 days.

    JOB FUNCTIONS: 

    Under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation, coordinates a variety of safe and dynamic recreation programs and large-scale community events at both park and school locations in Manalapan Township.

    Perform routine support duties to assist recreational programs, events, and activities.

    Position will require night and weekend work within the 35 hour week to attend events and programs.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    This is a seasonal supervisory position within the Township of Morris Parks and Recreation Department. The Assistant Pool Manager has overall responsibility to assist the Pool Manager and be lead manager when the Pool Manager is not on duty with the safety of the pool, as well as managerial/ administrative, facility, aquatic, communication, and leadership duties, including:

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Instill attention to safety among lifeguards, as well as pool members and guests
    • Must have good verbal communication skills, show initiative and enthusiasm. Must be able to motivate employees
    • Assist with recruitment and training of lifeguard staff
    • Assist staff training in operations and safety procedures; implements procedures and standards
    • Assist in scheduling all swim pool employees and properly recording hours
    • Administer First Aid, CPR, and other emergency and safety procedures, as required
    • Performs routine pool area maintenance as required; and ensures the cleanliness of facility, such as the pool, restroom, shower area, first aid room, and office space
    • Require all patrons to follow personal health and safety regulations as formulated by the NJ Department of Health and the Township of Morris Health Department

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Associates degree recommended
    • Must possess a valid government issued ID and Social Security Card
    • Required to submit to a background check
    • Minimum of three (3) seasons of lifeguarding or three (3) years of supervisory experience
    • Current certification in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/ AED or ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire

    EXPECTED WORK HOURS

    • ·       Applicants possessing a valid certificate as a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (NRPA) preferred or ability to become certified within 12 months of employment.
    • ·       Experience with Edmunds MCSJ is a plus.
    • ·       Employee will be required to pass a background check and have a valid NJ Driver’s license.

    Hours: Mon-Fri: 9-4:30, nights and weekends as needed for events, meetings, and activities.

    Full benefit package.
