Tree Maintenance Worker 1 - Ridgewood NJ 

The Ridgewood Department of Parks and Recreation is officially posting the full-time position of Tree Maintenance Worker 1, with a starting salary of $49,488.00.

Job responsibilities are similar to those specified for Civil Service Title #04220 Tree Maintenance Worker 1, per the New Jersey Civil Service Commission. Under direction, applicant will assist in the planting, transplanting, pruning, cutting of trees and assist in the treatment of diseased trees. In addition, conduct visual surveys listing of forest resources and other related work as required. Applicant must have landscape experience and be prepared to obtain an ISA certification, a Commercial Pesticide Applicators License as well as a CDL Class B driver’s license.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF RECREATION - The Town of Westfield, Union County, NJ. 

Seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of an Assistant Director of Recreation. This position requires the individual to provide overall leadership and supervision of a seasonal aquatic’s facility including programming, budgeting, staffing, improvements, and maintaining safety standards. This person is responsible for writing grants, updating social media pages, website and assisting in all aspects of the department. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills. This position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office, CivicRec, CivicPlus, and Edmunds. This position reports directly to the Director of Recreation and works collaboratively with all recreation staff and all departments in Westfield. Some nights, weekends and holidays are required. CPO and NJ Pool Director Certifications are preferred and must be obtained if hired. Minimum of at least three (3) years of supervisory experience in Recreation is preferred. Salary DoQ. RECREATION

Supervisor of Recreation Events & Programs - Manalapan, NJ                    

SALARY:  $50,000/ 35 hour work week                                                      

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administration, coordination, implementation, and supervision of programs within the Manalapan Recreation Department under the direction of the Superintendent of Recreation.

Including but not limited to:

  • Prepares daily, weekly and seasonal schedules of events and activities
  • Organizes and instructs groups in phases of recreational programming such as dancing, music, crafts, activities, sports and games
  • Serves as advisor or instructor for groups formed to participate in a particular type of activity; instructs members of the department staff and volunteer leaders
  • Orders supplies, materials, equipment and other materials pertaining to an activity in order to assure maximum satisfaction for the participants
  • Participates in recruiting, training and supervising seasonal and part-time staff, specialists and volunteers
  • May check, schedule, maintain and oversee use of facilities, equipment and supplies
  • Performs related work as required

Position will require night and weekend work within the 35 hour week to attend events and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in Recreation, experience in planning, organizing and conduction recreation activities, computer skills, CPR/First Aid/AED, CPO certifications a plus.

This position involves some physical demands to perform the essential functions of the job; including lifting and moving objects and equipment.

Manager of Park Maintenance- Morris County Park Commission

The Morris County Park Commission is seeking a Manager of Park Maintenance to manage, coordinate and supervise the execution of both in-house and contracted park maintenance activities related to facilities, grounds, trails and snow removal in the Morris County Park Commission. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Commission’s Park Maintenance Department staff, including the Mechanics Unit.

Candidates should have a minimum of six years demonstrated managerial experience focused on facility, grounds or park management. An Associate’s Degree in a related field is required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Parks, Recreation and Facilities Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture or similar field is preferred. Candidates must possess strong time management, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Thorough working knowledge of MS Office Software programs including Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint is also required.

Salary range is $85,000 to $90,000 with a comprehensive benefits package.

SUPERINTENDENT OF RECREATION - Hunterdon County Division of Parks and Recreation

Excellent opportunity for qualified candidate who has a commitment to serving the community in public parks through the development and administration of recreational and educational programs. The successful applicant will plan, organize, and manage all public recreation events to include the Summer Nature Programs & Recreation Programs as well as year-round group nature and recreation programming for adults and young people. The County of Hunterdon has a commitment to the stewardship of the park system, and specifically programing that will encourage the use, enjoyment, and preservation of that system. Requirements: This position requires a bachelor’s degree and 4 years of supervisory experience in recreation work involving planning, promoting, organizing and/or directing a comprehensive recreation service or program for a community.
