Communications and Recreation Coordinator - BOROUGH OF RUMSON

The Borough of Rumson is looking to fill the new position of Communications and Recreation Coordinator. This is a full-time position and will also require seasonal weekend work. Work areas include communication content creation and coordination of Borough distribution channels (website, social media, newsletter, and press releases), weekend field supervision, sports officials’ coordination and special event planning and coordination. Excellent written, communication, organization and interpersonal skills required. The position reports directly to the Administrator and Recreation Director.

  • Assistant Manager – looking for self-motivated person to handle day-to-day operations at the Swim Club. Duties include managing staff, scheduling, pool maintenance, handling daily membership issues, as well as swim team and swim meets. Pre-season availability on weekends in April and May is required. Evenings, weekends and holidays are required at times.  Season Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. Hours 30-35 per week. Salary $15-20/hour depending on experience.
  • Activities Coordinator – Arts & Crafts: looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to plan and lead arts & crafts activities for members age 4-12.  Craft projects will vary from week to week. This position will work closely with the Recreation Supervisor. Hours approximately 25-30 hours per week. There is some flexibility in weekly schedule.
  • Activities Coordinator – Sports: looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to lead daily sports activities for members age 5-18.  Activities to include but not limited to soccer, kickball, tennis, racquet baseball, whiffle ball along with tournaments and games. Hours 25-30 hours per week (daily 12-5pm) occasional weekends. 
  • Lifeguards – minimum age 15 years old and must be certified in lifeguard, first aid, CPR and AED. Duties include monitoring pools and enforcing the rules and regulations. Must enjoy being outside. 25-30 hours per week. Weekends and evenings are required. $10/hour.
  • Gate Attendant – minimum age 16 years old. Looking for friendly and outgoing staff to handle daily duties at gate. Duties include scanning membership IDs, selling guest passes, taking ID photos, and signing out sports equipment. 25-30 hours per week. Some weekends and evenings required.  $10/hour.
