RECREATION ASSISTANT – LONG HILL TOWNSHIP

RECREATION LEADER, TOWNSHIP OF SCOTCH PLAINS 

The Township of Scotch Plains Recreation Department is seeking two (2) full-time highly motivated and innovative Recreation Leaders to join the Recreation Department team.  Under supervision, Recreation Leaders will lead, organize and oversee recreational programs and activities for an assigned group; assist with activity planning, implementation and evaluation; does other related work as required.      Examples of work include, but are not limited to:   

  • Leads, oversees and participates in recreational program activities in a recreation center or other facility.  
  • Ensures program guidelines and safety practices are followed; immediately responds to potentially hazardous situations to avoid accidents or injury; reports all accidents to supervisor. 
  • Instructs individuals and groups in area of specialty (e.g. arts & crafts, boxing, drama, senior citizen activities, sports, social recreation, etc.). 
  • Assists with curriculum planning and developing specific activities; implements program plans and makes recommendations for new activities. 
  • Demonstrates and explains the concepts, techniques, procedures, rules and regulations used in the recreation program.
  • Assists in directing tournaments, socials, dances, seminars and other special events.
  • Oversees assigned functional areas of the center such as the gymnasium, auditorium, athletic field, game room or handicrafts.
  • May perform field preparation duties for sports and other programs (e.g. baseball, softball, football, etc.) 
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; ensures the proper use of equipment.   
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports of plans, program activities, and attendance. 
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office,        or related units. 

Starting salary commensurate with experience. The Springfield Recreation Department is seeking two part-time year-round Recreation Program Coordinators to join our team. The Senior Citizens portfolio will be responsible for planning, promoting, and hosting a full monthly schedule of senior citizen exercise classes, educational programs, social meetings, bus trips, luncheons, games, virtual presentations, and other activities. The portfolio will also coordinate the daily senior citizen transportation service and schedule the bus drivers. The Youth/Adult portfolio will be responsible for planning, promoting, and overseeing a diversified roster of sports clinics and leagues, non-sports extracurricular programs, after school youth drop-in program, school's out and summer camps, bus trips, and other activities. The Youth/Adult portfolio also includes coach recruitment, supply ordering and inventory, and program staff supervision. Both portfolios involve assisting with special events, community center operations, pool and/or summer camp programming, program registration processing, and office duties. SUMMER CAMP SUPERVISOR  ̶   THE BOROUGH OF RED BANK (MONMOUTH COUNTY) 

The Borough of Red Bank (Monmouth County) is seeking one full-time supervisor and one part-time supervisor to run, coordinate, organize, manage and plan daily activities for Summer Camp. Camp will run Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00pm, July through August.

Supervisors will be expected to oversee approximately 65-75 children between the ages of 3 and 12 each day. Camp Supervisors will ensure program safety throughout the day, and set good examples of behavior and attitude for the children to follow. Supervisors will be responsible for planning and implementing daily events including sports, games, arts and crafts, reading, and more, as well as leading staff and campers on field trips to various locations. Supervisors need to have good time management and group management skills, and be diligent in following emergency procedures and check-in procedures. 

Other responsibilities include:

·        Implement basic rules of having fun, being safe and listening at all times.

·        Oversee the daily breakfast and lunch procedures.

·        Assist parents with information, sign-in/sign-out, daily activities, questions, etc.

·        Manage staff including timesheets, activities, clean up, etc.

·        Communicate with parents/guardians regarding scheduling, disciplinary actions, behavior and other information as needed.

The ideal candidates should be:

·        Professional, organized and express a desire to work in Recreation

·        Experienced with children, day care or recreational services is preferred

·        Experienced leading a staff of 10 or more employees

·        Capable of administering basic first aid, CPR and AED as needed. (CPR certification is required and will be provided by the Borough if needed.)

·        Fluent or proficient in Spanish (preferred)

The Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the maintenance of all municipal owned land, buildings, facilities and roadways.

DPW is currently seeking a Machine Operator/Laborer, preferably with experience in maintaining softball, baseball and soccer fields. Snow plowing experience is also preferred.  A valid license is required. Once hired an employee is required to obtain a CDL Class A license within six (6) months. The starting salary is $40,000 annually with benefits.
