Full Time Ice Rink Zamboni Driver / Maintenance Worker, CODEY ARENA, COUNTY OF ESSEX DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, RECREATION, AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS

Responsible for driving / operating the Zamboni machine by following procedures to ensure the highest quality ice maintenance for the safety of all customers.  Would also be responsible for assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of the machines, equipment and the overall facility. Reports to Arena Director, Manager

Key Responsibilities:

1.        Must be available to a shift schedule that includes working nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
2.        Drives and operates the Zamboni according to all safety guidelines during scheduled shifts.
3.        Responsible for making ice as assigned according to the ice rink schedule and the general maintenance of the ice surface during shifts using the            edger machine.
4.        Responsible for monitoring the ice and equipment for any problems and notifying management regarding any issues.
5.        Responsible for assisting with general maintenance and cleaning of the facility which includes: restrooms, sweeping floors, removing trash,            cleaning of locker rooms, benches, and stands as needed. 
6.        Complete daily compressor logs, maintenance log and shift report.
7.        Assume any additional responsibilities as required.

Salary based on experience for full or part time positions.

Requirements:

Must possess a valid NJ Driver’s license.

Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills- PAL Director (Recreation Manager)

Under the direction of the PAL Board of Directors and the Township Business Administrator, this position is responsible for the development, coordination, scheduling and implementation of events associated with the Police Athletic League recreation facility. Direct in the planning of long-range goals, objectives, organization structure and overall objectives and strategies to ensure efficient organization and completion of work. Position is responsible to perform in accordance with the PAL by-laws, policies and procedures. Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training in job skills; evaluating performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manage athletic and supplemental programs for people of varying ages. This includes recruitment and supervision of volunteers for each athletic and educational program. Full-Time Coordinator of Recreation Programs - Wall Township. This is to advise that a vacancy exists for the above referenced full-time position in the Township Recreation Department. Seeking an applicant that is customer oriented, experienced professional to supervise all municipally run recreation programs. Wall Township takes great pride in providing recreational opportunities for its residents. Wall Township has nearly 1,300 acres of public recreational and open space in addition to its well-known and utilized 7-mile bike path system. Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation or a related field as well as membership in NJRPA is a plus.

Job Purpose:

Planning, implementation and supervision of recreational activities, programs and events for the Township of Wall including, financial accounting, administrative work, scheduling and coordination.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Recreation Director with day-to-day operations.
  • Implement marketing strategies to ensure the success of the Department and its programs and special events.
  • Scheduling and booking of multiple rooms used for various activities.
  • Coordinate payroll and reports of all staff and instructors.
  • Plan and coordinate all current programs and events with staff and instructors.
  • Processing of all billing, paperwork and purchase orders and bank deposits.
  • Assist with all program and event flyers.
  • Processing of all permits in cooperation with the Board of Education.

Cook’s Pond Lake Manager (Seasonal) – Township of Denville. The Township of Denville is accepting résumés from qualified individuals for a seasonal position as Lake Manager for Cook’s Pond in the Denville Department of Recreation. The ideal candidate shall function as a facility coordinator and focus their efforts on the safety, scheduling, staffing, maintenance, upkeep/upgrade of the Cook’s Pond facility. Furthermore, the ideal candidate shall educate, train and mentor the staff in the performance of many of the day-to-day operational tasks. The Lake Manager is responsible for the entire Cook’s Pond facility including but not limited to Cook’s Pond seasonal swimming membership, fishing permits, kayak/canoeing permits, the party pavilion rentals, the playground and the park which includes a walking trail and open space. Other duties include, but are not limited to, creating and maintaining procedural protocols for operation, evaluation and public use, making recommendations to the Recreation Director for improvement to the facilities or modification of existing policies. The position requires knowledge of general maintenance and repair of recreation lake facilities and equipment. Although the Lake is open seasonally from Memorial Day (weekends only until June 17, 2019) to Labor Day, the work schedule includes out-of-season activities including helping in the staff and lifeguard recruitment process, post-season lake closing and other tasks as deemed necessary. The position is open to qualified individuals with lake management experience, Starguard Lifeguard Instructor certification is preferred by not mandatory. Salary shall be based upon qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Recreation Coordinator - Neptune Township. The position of Recreation Coordinator for the Neptune Township Recreation Department will be available at a salary of $35,000.00 per year.

The Full Time Recreation Coordinator for the Recreation Department shall be under the direct supervision of the Recreation Director. The Recreation Coordinator will plan, implement, promote, coordinate, supervise and evaluate Neptune Township’s existing recreational programs and expand program offerings.

Individuals wishing to be considered for this position will be expected to research and develop well-rounded innovative programs, recruit program providers and evaluate programs for continuation, change or elimination. Organize, coordinate, and conduct seasonal programs and events, including hiring, training, and supervision of part-time staff. Create promotional materials, i.e. event flyers, e-newsletters, e-communication for recreation programs. Schedule recreation programs and activities and request and coordinate facility space. Facilitate inclusion of special needs participants in general recreation and sports programs. Candidates must be able to multi-task, have knowledge of ADA and inclusion process, and have excellent organization skills, customer service skills, communication skills, computer skills, lift and move up to 25 pounds, and enjoy working with children and adults. Candidate must have the ability to work a flexible schedule.

Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree (from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation and park administration or related field preferred) and at least two (2) years’ work experience in managing and supervising recreation programs. Certified Recreation Supervisor or Administrator through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs preferred. Recreation Program Supervisor - Princeton. The Princeton Recreation Department is seeking a full-time Recreation Program Supervisor to plan, organize and implement a variety of community-based recreation and aquatic programs for youth, adult and seniors. The Program Supervisor, under the direction of the Executive Director of Recreation, will have a varied set of responsibilities including supervising youth/adult/ senior activities/events, recruiting, hiring, and evaluating seasonal staff, serving as liaison to community-based organizations and developing new programming for the community. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP. Randolph Township is seeking a full-time Assistant Director for the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department. Under the direction of the Director, the Assistant Director will be responsible for oversight of year round and seasonal programs. RECREATION AIDE (Facility Coordinator) – CITY OF CLIFTON. Horticultural Display Foreman, Morris County

MORRIS COUNTY (NJ) PARK COMMISSION is seeking a full-time Horticultural Display Foreman. Employees in this position are responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and care of plant displays throughout the Horticulture Sites operated by the Park Commission. Duties include maintaining assigned garden areas to the highest degree of horticultural standards as well as supervising subordinate staff with activities related to the design, installation and maintenance of seasonal and permanent plant displays. Individuals should have a strong demonstrated ability in landscape design and aesthetics, as well as a strong working knowledge of a variety of annual, perennial, herbaceous, woody, bulb, and tropical plants.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  •            Designs, plants and maintains a variety of seasonal and permanent display gardens and container plantings, with annuals, perennials,    bulbs, herbaceous, woody and tropical plants.
  •         ·          Evaluates garden displays and recommend improvements.
  •         ·          Sources, selects and orders appropriate supplies & plant materials while working within a defined budget.
  •         ·          Leads seasonal display planning meetings with other gardeners and education staff.
  •         ·          Supervises and participates in the installation and care of designed plantings resulting in high quality gardens and grounds for public    enjoyment and to enhance facility rental revenue potential.
  •         ·          Measures new and existing planting beds and converts field measurements to accurate scaled drawings.

  •         ·          Applies pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers and maintains associated application records as required.

Minimum:  A two-year Associate’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design or related field. Three years’ experience as a professional gardener. One years’ experience supervising staff making landscape plantings in a public garden, landscape contracting, or related. A documented portfolio of original garden designs and installations. A thorough knowledge of a wide variety of annual, perennial, woody and herbaceous landscape plants; and the ability to obtain Pesticide Operator License from the NJ DEP. Valid NJ Driver’s license.
