Education & Resources

NJRPA is the leading source for educational opportunities for recreation, parks, conservation and leisure services in the State of New Jersey.   Members of NJRPA have access to continuing education programs, workshops, seminars and conferences on a wide range of topics.  Annual training programs include the NJRPA annual Conference and Trade Show, the Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course, the Governor's Conference on Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities, and special sessions at the New Jersey State League of Municipalities conference.

The Association also provides regional District meetings and Special Interest Section workshops annually to provide networking opportunities and specialized training programs.

As a 501 (c) 3 corporation in New Jersey, NJRPA also provide free technical assistance and referrals to members and to the general public.

Certified Playground Safety Inspector Course is hosted twice annually in cooperation with the National Recreation and Park Association's National Playground Safety Institute.

Community Service Discount Ticket Program offers deep discounts on tickets to the region's most popular theme parks and ski resorts.   Annual Recreation Group Nights with the New Jersey Devils and New Jersey Nets.

Professional Park Maintenance Course for park administrators, supervisors, and maintenance personnel offered in cooperation with Rutgers University Cook College Office of Continuing Professional Education.

Active Public Policy presence in Trenton - the State Capitol.  NJRPA testifies frequently on legislation and regulations affecting the field.   Professional Public Affairs Consultants guide our efforts to support funding and other legislative and regulatory proposals to support open space protection, build new or renovate existing parks, improve operation efficiency, and protect public health and welfare through recreation.

NJRPA Publications Leisure Times and the Annual Membership Directory provide technical and association related information and networking opportunities.

Partnership with the Rutgers Youth Sports Research Council fosters improved administration of community sports and athletic programs and offers comprehensive training to youth sports coaches and to parents of young athletes.

The seven regional Districts of NJRPA hold monthly or quarterly information meetings providing grass roots training and discussion of important parks and recreation issues.

Special Interest Sections provide specialized training for and representation of key constituencies.

The NJRPA Professional Certification Board administers the National Certification Plan of the National Recreation and Park Association, and NJRPA works closely with the New Jersey Board of Recreation Examiners to advance this state specific recreation certification program.
